SEA IMPORTS & EXPORTS / SHIPMENT-SPECIFIC SCOPE
Start by naming the gateway. Mumbai Port and Nhava Sheva are separate ports with different terminals and physical hand-offs. At Mumbai Port, Motumal’s established experience is in liquid bulk and containers. We also consider other sea-cargo import and export enquiries after reviewing the actual goods, facility and requirements.
Three decisions to make before the cargo moves
The real port and facility
Confirm Mumbai Port rather than JNPT, then name the intended berth, jetty or terminal. For a liquid parcel, check the product and transfer route with the facility operator.
The customs file
Compare the invoice, transport record, product description, quantity and origin. Identify missing approvals or conflicting versions before preparing the Bill of Entry or Shipping Bill.
The receiving clock
Establish how the cargo moves after Customs release. A marine, tank, barge, warehouse or road hand-off can have its own readiness requirements and deadlines.
What to send for a useful first answer
- Import or export; exact product and intended use
- Cargo mode, vessel or booking, ETA or sailing date
- Available commercial and transport records
- Proposed berth or terminal and receiving or delivery plan
Other sector enquiries at this sea port are reviewed case by case. Product restrictions, terminal acceptance and the actual service scope must be confirmed for the consignment. Prepare a shipment brief for Shanay ↗
Questions importers and exporters ask
- Is Mumbai Port the same as Nhava Sheva?
- No. Mumbai Port and JNPT / Nhava Sheva are different gateways. The actual port and facility decide which operating questions to resolve.
- Can you discuss cargo outside liquid bulk and containers?
- Yes, for sea imports and exports at Mumbai Port. Share the specific goods and movement so Motumal can assess the requirements and confirm whether the service scope is a fit.
- Does customs release mean the cargo can move immediately?
- Not always. Carrier, marine, terminal and receiving arrangements may still need action after a Customs milestone.

Prepared for the liquid-bulk operation
Motumal’s published operating history includes oils and chemicals imported in chartered tanker vessels at Mumbai Port. Documentation, vessel timing, discharge interfaces and storage readiness should be discussed together before arrival.
Close to the work
The registered office is at 101, Emca House, 289 Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, Fort, Mumbai 400001. This is the company’s Mumbai base; specific port and terminal arrangements are confirmed for the shipment.
The pre-arrival conversation
Send the product description, transport documents available, cargo mode, expected arrival and receiving plan. Our team reviews document consistency, customs preparation and unresolved operating questions before the arrival window.
Beyond the customs file
Lighterage through the associated Bay Tankers business and storage coordination may form part of a liquid-bulk operation. The actual route depends on the cargo, facility, vessel and permissions. Container consignments follow their relevant terminal and release interfaces.
Pir Pau or Jawahar Dweep? Name the marine interface.
Mumbai Port Authority’s Marine Oil Terminals description identifies Old Pir Pau with lube and base-oil barges, other Pir Pau jetties with chemicals and petroleum products, and Jawahar Dweep with crude and petroleum products. That public overview is a starting point; the operator must confirm the current facility and handling plan for the actual parcel.
For a proposed base-oil movement, establish the berth, craft, product evidence, quantity basis and receiving route before treating the customs and marine plans as ready. Our Pir Pau base-oil import guide sets out the document and responsibility checks.
What an oil or chemical importer should send early
Share the invoice, bill of lading, actual product specification, expected parcel quantity, vessel ETA and intended receiving arrangement. Identify unresolved certificates or facility acceptance before the discharge window. For a container consignment, supply the packing information and terminal details instead. The liquid-bulk document guide gives a fuller starting list.
