Three decisions to make before the cargo moves
Import route: DPD or CFS
For a container import, establish whether the consignment is eligible for Direct Port Delivery or will move through a Container Freight Station. This affects the hand-off after arrival.
Export route: booking and gate
For a sea export, establish the booking, cargo-ready date, Shipping Bill particulars, terminal or CFS plan and the carrier’s cut-offs. Direct Port Entry is a distinct route where applicable.
Release is more than one status
Customs assessment, Out of Charge, carrier release, terminal gate and empty-container return can each have different owners and timing. Keep the next action visible.
What to send for a useful first answer
- Import or export; product description, composition and intended use where relevant
- Container number or booking, terminal and ETA or sailing
- Invoice, packing list and bill of lading or draft transport particulars
- Proposed DPD, CFS or other route; delivery destination and responsible contact

Questions importers and exporters ask
- Do JNPT and Nhava Sheva mean the same port?
- They are commonly used for the same gateway; the authority now uses JNPA. The actual container terminal and route still matter.
- Does every import use Direct Port Delivery?
- No. DPD is an available facility for eligible movements. Confirm eligibility and the actual route for the shipment; otherwise plan the CFS or other applicable path.
- Can you review a non-core product?
- Yes, as a sea-cargo enquiry. The team first reviews the goods, approvals and route, then confirms whether Motumal can take the work.

One port. Different operating interfaces.
JNPT, Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Nhava Sheva are names commonly used in trade. The port authority uses JNPA branding. Give the actual terminal and cargo mode when planning the customs and release process.
Container clearance
Motumal clears containerised imports and coordinates document preparation, customs filing and the applicable assessment and release interfaces. Share the bill of lading, product details, packing information and expected arrival before the container reaches the port.
Liquid-bulk enquiries
Motumal’s company website also describes liquid-bulk experience at JNPT. The specific commodity, receiving terminal and discharge arrangement must be checked for each proposed movement; port-wide claims do not establish a facility’s acceptance of a particular cargo.

A Bill of Entry, applicable assessment or examination, Out of Charge, carrier release and physical collection are different steps. The container may follow a CFS route or, where eligible, Direct Port Delivery. Confirm its actual terminal, route and receiving plan before arrival.
