Our story
Built around Mumbai’s port since 1949.
Generations of customs experience. Deep knowledge of liquid bulk. The same discipline applied to container cargo.
CONTINUITY, WITH PURPOSE
Preparation.
Precision.
Accountability.
These are enduring responsibilities in a business where a small detail in a document can affect a much larger operation.
Four generations. One continuing responsibility.

A business shaped by the port.
Motumal & Co. was established in 1949. Its principal historical focus is the documentation and customs clearance of import consignments, with particular experience in liquid bulk—edible and inedible oils, petroleum oils and chemicals.
That specialist history sits alongside container clearance. Both require accurate information, informed review and coordination with the people responsible for each stage of the movement.
Customs brokers, historically called CHA.
The company’s existing website records CHA reference 11/241. CHA is the historical term Custom House Agent; customs broker is the terminology used today. Our role is to support preparation and customs coordination. Customs and other authorities make their own assessment and release decisions.
Local knowledge. Wider port coverage.
Our three offices are in Mumbai’s Fort district, Nhava Sheva and Surat, supporting work at Mumbai Port, JNPT / Nhava Sheva and Hazira. Dighi is our fourth service port, for liquid cargo only. Each shipment is reviewed against the actual port, cargo and operating requirements.
Connected to the marine operation.
Through the association with Bay Tankers Pvt. Ltd., the liquid-bulk operating conversation can extend into lighterage and barging. The respective businesses’ responsibilities and assets remain distinct.
Ports change. Regulations change. The responsibility doesn’t.
Preparation before arrival, careful review and follow-through are relevant whether the consignment arrives in a container or a chartered tanker. This is the operating mindset behind Motumal’s work today.
