Storage

Bonded and duty-paid storage: two questions to ask early.

Separate facility availability from customs status when planning imported liquid-cargo storage.

Can the facility receive the product?

The first question is physical and operational: is the facility suitable for this cargo, quantity and timing? Product compatibility, available capacity and transfer arrangements need confirmation from the provider. A tank being available does not by itself resolve the import procedure.

What is the applicable customs status?

The second question concerns the customs arrangement. A bonded procedure requires the appropriate facility authorisation and documentation; a duty-paid movement has its own release context. Confirm the applicable process for the actual consignment with the responsible team.

Agree the onward instructions.

The importer should explain the expected storage period and intended onward movement. Identify the parties who will issue release instructions, record quantities and coordinate delivery. Commercial storage terms and customs requirements should both be understood.

What Motumal coordinates

Motumal’s published service scope includes storage arrangements. Its role is coordination with the relevant facility and operating parties. This does not represent tank ownership, guaranteed capacity or a universal entitlement to use a bonded procedure.

Requirements depend on the goods, classification, origin, port and current regulation. Confirm consignment-specific requirements before shipment.
